How are you preparing for NUOVA’s program?
- Since it's my first year I've been trying to learn as much as I can about the program to prepare. Speaking with friends, colleagues, and teachers who have attended or know about NUOVA to get a good idea of what to expect and how best to organize myself beforehand. Making sure I'm on top of things to keep up with workloads, maintaining focus, and using all my time effectively seem to be of the utmost importance. Of course now I'm also focused on learning my music, as well as falling in love with, and immersing myself in the incredible music of Sondheim and the role of Jack!
What attracts you to NUOVA’s programs? Why this year?
- I had heard of the program in the past from many sources and had heard nothing but good things about the level of work, the quality of training, and what this program can do for you as an artist and how you can improve in so many ways, so when it came the time to audition this year, I did! This year is also especially appealing with such a fantastic line-up of shows, it seemed like the perfect time to try NUOVA and to enter into the summer program scene to continue my work as a performer.
Brent Raddall is a singer and actor from Liverpool, Nova Scotia and first time NUOVA participant! He is entering his third year at Acadia University studying vocal performance under Christianne Rushton. He has been performing on stage from the age of five in Kiwanis Music Festivals and in community theatre productions and, in 2016, was the first place winner at the National Music Festival in the category of Musical Theatre. He is excited to further his training in the Opera and Musical Theatre-integrated world of NUOVA this year!
