Elena Howard-Scott

Young Artist Program - Singer
Voice Type: soprano
Province/Territory: Manitoba
City: Winnipeg

Role(s) in this year's festival:

Pamina: The Arctic Flute

How are you preparing for NUOVA’s program?

  • I am delighted to be playing Pamina in NUOVA's production of The Magic Flute. In preparation for the role, I am listening to the gorgeous music (!!), researching past interpretations, making choices about this beautiful character, and coaching it with my teachers at the University of Manitoba. I am also of course, sleeping. I hear there may not be a lot of time to do that.

What attracts you to NUOVA’s programs? Why this year?

  • I’ve chosen NUOVA this year for its staff, high production level, and for the intense learning environment. I’m looking forward to meeting like-minded, talented young people from around the country, and I’m excited for full days of rehearsal in a fast-paced learning environment  Also obviously to see if the West Edmonton Mall lives up to my 5 year old self’s memory of it. It was REALLY fun when I was 5. We’ll see.
