Role(s) in this year's festival:
The Witch - Into the Woods
Previous NUOVA Roles:
2017 - Participant in 'Ten Day Program for Singers'
How am I preparing for NUOVA?
- I am currently completing a BFA in Acting at the U of A. In the program’s singing course, I continue to develop my vocal technique through audition preparation. As well, I have been researching The Witch’s personal track by listening to the entire musical. I’ve been asking myself: how does she move the story forward, how does her behavior relate to the themes of the musical, what is her relationship to the other characters, and what motivates her to behave the way she does? I’ve also been exploring how can breath and imagination work help me access this demanding and emotionally vibrant character.
What attracts me to NUOVA?
- This program is packed with incredible opportunities for an emerging artist. Last spring I was a participant in the 10 Day Singing Program where I learned vocal technique and about the artistic values and practices that will aid me in my artistic development. The program offers classes that are essential to an emerging artist: acting, dance, individual vocal coaching, Alexander Technique, personal development and courses unique to each year. I am so grateful and excited to return to NUOVA’s six week program because the time with the instructors, peers, accompanists and audiences are invaluable to my growth.
