 How are you preparing for NUOVA’s program? 

  • To prepare for NUOVA's program I am learning and analyzing my roles, and having coachings frequently.

What attracts you to NUOVA’s programs? Why this year? 

  • Raved about by my colleagues and teachers; this prestigious program promises to be most rewarding. I am excited to further my development as a young singer and meet new people along the way. I look forward to be fully immersed in this program and take in every opportunity it has to offer!

Artist Bio     

Soprano Leyanna Slous is a first year Master’s student at Western University studying with Jackie Short. During her undergraduate studies she worked with Bethany Hörst and was the recipient of the Wilena Evans Award. Leyanna recently sang the role of Mabel in Western Opera’s “Pirates of Penzance” and has appeared in “Hansel and Gretel”, “Suor Angelica” and the opera gala while at Western. Other appearances include John Beckwith’s “Night Blooming Cereus” and the world premiere of Michael Rose’s “A Northern Lights Dream” in Toronto with Summer Opera Lyric Theatre. Leyanna is thrilled to be singing the role Dorine in “Tartuffe”, 1st Spirit in "Die Zauberflöte” and Chorus in “City Workers in Love” in NUOVA’s 20th anniversary season this spring 2018.
