Baker: Into the Woods
How are you preparing for NUOVA’s program?
- As a relatively new music student, the most important way I am preparing for Opera NUOVA is by building up my repertoire of performance-ready pieces, so that I can fully take advantage of coaching opportunities with a variety of styles of music.
What attracts you to NUOVA’s programs? Why this year?
- The single biggest draw in attending Opera NUOVA is the opportunity to rehearse and perform a major role in a production while being coached and helped along daily by excellent instructors. I feel that this kind of intensive program will truly jump-start my musical education and provide a solid understanding of the world in which I wish to immerse myself.
Paul is a voice student at University of Manitoba, studying under David Klassen. He is new to formal music education, but has been performing in community productions for several years, most notably in Winnipeg's Gilbert and Sullivan Society productions of Gondoliers, Pirates of Penzance, Trial By Jury, Ruddigore, and Yeomen of the Guard.
