Rob Herriot

Rob Herriot as Mr Laurence

Rob is no stranger to the Opera Nuova family. He has participated in the spring/summer festival since 2010, having directed productions of Beatrice et Benedict, Don Giovanni, Oklahoma, La Boheme, Patience, Tartuffe and The Fairy Queen. But in true Nuova fashion, directing is not the only thing Rob has done with the festival. In 2015 he filled in at the last minute in the role of Jack Point in Yeomen of the Guard, appeared as Andrew Carnes in Oklahoma, made a brief, scantily clad, appearance as Inez in The Gondoliers and also played Little Buttercup in the 2017 winter production of HMS Pinafore. He has also directed many productions at the Edmonton Opera; HMS Pinafore, La Fille du Regiment, Pirates of Penzance, Tosca, The Mikado, The Magic Flute, La Cenerentola and Rigoletto. Rob has worked with companies across North America having directed productions of Carmen, La Boheme, Madama Butterfly, Lucia di Lammermoor, Barber of Seville, Rigoletto, Don Pasquale, La Traviata, The Magic Flute and, The Marriage of Figaro. In 2013 he was honored with the task of directing the premier production for Calgary’s summer festival inn the tent with a production of Pirates of Penzance, and a production of Candide the following year. Other work includes teaching and mentoring young singers and directors and in 2018 was asked to direct his first full scale musical for Canada’s largest outdoor theatre, Winnipeg’s Rainbow Stage, with a production of Beauty and the Beast, followed by Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella in 2019. Rob is thrilled and frankly overwhelmed to be back to live theatre and thanks you for being a part of this history making experience. Enjoy the show.
