Group Biography: Rachel and Grace are sisters who grew up singing alongside one another. Grace is delighted to be returning to Opera Nuova’s concert series. This past Summer she was seen in A Grand Night for Singing and previously in the 2016 My Favourite Things: New Year’s Eve Sing Along. Grace is also thrilled to be joining Opera NUOVA’s 6-Week Emerging Artist Program next summer, where she’ll be seen as Marian Paroo in The Music Man. Grace is a recent graduate of McGill University where she studied Classical Voice Performance under the tutelage of Joanne Kolomyjec. Her performance experience in Montréal includes recitals with McGill’s Concert Choir, performances with Opera McGill, McGill’s English Department, the McGill Drama Festival and the McGill Savoy Society. This past Fall, Grace competed in the Edmonton Music & Speech Arts Festival, where she won the Anne Burrows Music Foundation Voice Scholarship, the Paul J. Bourret 100th Anniversary Memorial Voice Scholarship, and the Ann Harrison Memorial Scholarship in Musical Theatre. Some favourite Edmonton theatre credits include MEAT: The Musical (Em; Edmonton Fringe Festival), Polaroid Stories (Skinhead Girl; The Citadel Theatre Young Acting Company), Mary Poppins (Miss Andrew; Bellerose Composite High School, Cappie Award win), and Measures (Lucia Bryant, The Citadel Theatre Young Musical Company).
Rachel is thrilled to be making her debut performance with Opera Nuova. For as long as she can remember, Rachel has loved to sing and perform. Her early days were spent in voice lessons and in St. Albert Children’s Theatre rehearsals. After completing lead roles in her High School musicals, Rachel moved on to the corporate world working as a Management Consultant. After some time, she came back to her roots and now is balancing both worlds in her admin role for Opera Nuova and her return to singing. Rachel is delighted to be singing some of her favourite Christmas songs alongside her sister, and is hoping you’ve got the perfect cozy beverage in hand.
