Normands Restaurant - 11639 Jasper Avenue

11639 Jasper Avenue NW

Canadian tenor Matthew Dalen has performed with opera companies and symphonies throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe. Praised in Opera Canada magazine for his “warm tone and good connection to text” Matthew is an exciting young artist on the rise. He is currently in town to play Borsa in Edmonton Opera’s Rigoletto, but is based out of Montréal. Edmonton-native Sarah Austin has recently moved back to Edmonton after completing her Bachelor of Music at Western University where she performed in UWOpera’s productions of Carmen and Pirates of Penzance. Her most recent credit is Liz in Chicago with Theatre Western. These vibrant performers will entertain you between courses with a variety of musical delights.

Neil Craighead & Andrea Hill

Neil Craighead’s burgeoning career has recently taken him from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland, featured in operas by Somers, Verdi and Puccini. The tall, imposing bass-baritone’s coming season is dominated by Colline in La bohème with productions for Vancouver Opera, Canadian Opera Company and Calgary Opera. He also appears as Der Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte for Opéra de Québec and Don Fernando in Fidelio for Pacific Opera Victoria. Joining him is NUOVA alumnus, mezzo-soprano Andrea Hill who established her career in Paris and now balances engagements at New York’s Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden in London, her native Canada and on major stages in France. After living in France for 12 years she has recently moved back to Calgary and we are thrilled to welcome her back to Alberta. Join us and be inspired by these two exceptional NUOVA alumni.

Lara Ciekiewicz & Kevin Myers

Select Restaurant

After they close the door on what we are sure will be a fantastic production of Le nozze di Figaro by Edmonton Opera, Lara Ciekiewicz and Kevin Myers will create a splendid bouquet of musical offerings. Versatile soprano Lara Ciekiewicz makes her mark as a compelling, intelligent, and accomplished singing-actress. Ms. Ciekiewicz recently received the Winnipeg Arts Council’s RBC ‘On the Rise Award.’ She has distinguished herself at San Francisco’s Merola Opera Program, the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center, Opera NUOVA and the Banff Centre. Joining her will be Kevin Myers, known for seducing audiences with his beautiful lyrical tenor voice and brilliant interpretation. On the operatic stage, Kevin has performed over 15 operatic roles including Tamino, Nemorino, Lysander, Remendado, among many others. Come hear these remarkable, larger-than-life artists, and be moved!

We are so fortunate that Caitlin will be in town performing as Susanna in Edmonton Opera’s Le nozze di Figaro, as well as Cunegonde in Candide. After the curtain closes on these fabulous productions, come see Caitlin perform in the intimate setting of LUX Steakhouse.

Isn’t it Romantic?

2020 Festival Emerging Artists

Normand’s Bistro
10177 99 Street NW

Isn’t it Romantic? Yes it is! Spend a night out with your “someone special” and bask in the unforgettable melodies of Rodgers and Hart. Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart met at Columbia University in 1919 and went on to write 28 musicals and over 500 songs together. The emerging artists from the 2020 Opera & Music Theatre Festival will share songs from some of this songwriting duo’s most popular shows. You will walk away humming tunes such as “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered”, “Manhattan”, “My Funny Valentine”, and “Blue Moon” among many more. This will be a beautiful evening of theatrical music sung by our passionate NUOVA artists!
