Grease is the word! Have you ever wanted to sing and dance along to your favorite musical? Opera NUOVA gives you a unique experience to help raise funds for the NUOVA Emerging Artist Scholarship Fund and the Bachelor of Fine Arts Classes at the University of Alberta’s National Audition Tour.
This isn’t a movie on screen, it’s real live actors, singers and dancers leading you through a sing and dance along evening of one of musical theatre’s greatest hits. Our performers for the evening will be the 3rd year class from the University Of Alberta Bachelor of Fine Arts Professional Acting Program with students from the 2nd year class serving as our chorus!
Over 17 years Opera NUOVA has shared professional opera and musical theatre performances in celebrated venues across the City of Edmonton, including Our Town, Fiddler on the Roof, Trouble in Tahiti, Cosi fan tutte and Rusalka. Additionally, Opera NUOVA presents the NUOVA Opera and Music Theatre Festival, Canada’s largest opera and music theatre festival.
Last year, Opera NUOVA ventured into new territory by presenting Sing Along Phantom of the Opera, a fun and exciting evening of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s beloved musical accompanied by a silent auction and masquerade. Grease! Sing A-Long continues on that success with one of the world’s most beloved movie musicals, with lyrics projected above the performers, a professional style vocal warm-up, and all the dance moves you’ll need to relive “those summer nights”! A silent auction, and a photo booth with a professional photographer to capture you all dolled up with your poodle skirt, pompadours and saddle shoes.
